Description

This is about 23h of data processed in SHO with RGB stars. Both Ha and Sii have some nice structure with Oiii mostly being concentrated in the lower left half corner of this image with very little structure beside a small arc shape in that region. This object is actually quite big and you would probably need a 400mm scope and a full frame camera to capture it in its entirety.

At 750mm though i'm getting a nice amount of resolution on the structure of features of the Head of the Seagull and along  its wings. The original full size picture is @ 1.05 pixel/arcsec

IC 2177 also known as the Seagull Nebula is an emission nebula located in the constellation Monoceros. This nebula is around 1,500 light-years away from Earth and has an area of about 100 light-years across. The shape of the nebula resemble a seagull, but I kind of sea more of a Cockatoo in this close up, especially the head. The region also contains several bright nebulae, including NGC 2174, NGC 2175, and NGC 2185.
