Description

NGC1433 is a barred spiral galaxy with rare double ring structure, discovered by James Dunlop in 1826.  The central region, inner ring and spiral arms display star forming activity, but star formation appears absent from the galactic bar.  NGC1433 is between 32 million and 46 million light-years distant, possibly earning it a place in the list of our 50 nearest galaxies.
