Description

This supernova was first discovered on 16 April 2022 by Koichi Itagaki where it was measured at Mag 15.0. As of 25 April 2022 it is reported as Mag 12.6.

Spectral analysis seems to indicate that it is a Type 1a supernova.

I took this image on the grounds of the Texas Star Party, in Bortle 2 skies near Fort Davis, Texas using an William Optics 81mm refractor and an ASI533MC camera. 5x120s exposures stacked and stretched using Siril, no dark/flat/bias frames nor further processing.

The green arrow in the enlarged section points to SN2022hrs. There is still ongoing discussion on whether it is in NGC4647 or M60.

This page, to which I have no affiliation, seems to have a good record of observations https://www.rochesterastronomy.org/sn2022/sn2022hrs.html
