This image is the result of a collaborative project over the last 16 weeks with Adrian
@Adrenaline We combined images from our respective sets of equipment ((Samyang 135mm + ASI183MM and RedCat 51 + ASI1600MM) plus (Samyang 135mm + ASI183MM and RedCat 51 + Atik460EX/ASI294MM)).
In total we collected 1890 minutes of Ha, 1600 minutes of OIII and 600 minutes of SII covering the six panes of the mosaic - that’s a total of 2.875 days imaging time.
The mosaic was pre-processed and assembled in AstroPixelProcessor and processed in PixInsight.
The benefit of the collaboration goes far beyond just collecting the data. We have shared our experiences, positive and negative, on data collection, data evaluation, data processing and image critique and it is fair to say we have both benefitted from the experience far more than we anticipated at the outset.
I've fallen short in bringing the squid out in this version instead taking the easy route of concentrating on the brighter signal areas of the image.
I've included two starless crops as additional revisions to show the native resolution we were getting with the mosaic at 135mm and 250mm. I think the detail is close to breaking down as we start to hit the limits of what we can resolve!
