Description

Sh2-115 "The Wolf" Nebula

I call it The Wolf, but no one else does. You can see the wolf head in the center of the image, stalking a squirrel at the lower-right. The wolf is Sh2-115 while the squirrel is Sh2-112. The small object halfway between the wolf and the top of the image is Sh2-116, also cataloged as Abell 71. It was originally thought to be a planetary nebula, but after H-II was detected it is now considered an emission nebula. The wispy-looking structure at the top-left is mostly DWB 192, and there are several other emission nebula within view. All objects are 5,500 to 7,500 light-years from Earth. North is at the top-left.

Triad filter used for Luminance channel: (T)RGB. It works!
