Description

Zodiacal light right after twilight taken in Hawaii over the Pacific ocean. The Zodiacal light reaches up from the horizon to the Winter Milky Way overhead and rivals the brightness of the Milky Way. It stretches almost straight up and is quite visible around the equinox. Prominent are the stars of the Pleiades, Taurus, and Orion. It was so dark over the Pacific that when a few passing clouds appeared, they looked like black holes against the brightness of the Zodiacal light.
