Description

This image has been taken on the night of the 7th of January 2022, and it's the sum of 305 60 secs unguided subs taken with a Canon 70-200 F4 lens (brought at 70 FL), an ASI 533 and an Optolong L-Extreme filter. All on top of an Ioptron Smart Eq. No guiding and autocenter script was applied. Mount was able to perform a meridian flip and bring the object close to center. This due to the short focal length.

Aquisition, processing with Astroart 8 (crop, gradient removal, DDP, deconvultion, low pass). Stacking with DSS.

Image had a huge green gradient, due to the very short focal lenght. With such a short focal length is normal to catch a lot of ambient light, especially when the object is getting closer to the houses. Moreover the night was not so clear, with many passing clouds. Moreover a lot of noise, due to the low integration time. I would like to have the opportunity to dedicate 2 or 3 nights to this subject.

Version A is the image as come out from DSS. Version B is the processed one.

The Rosette Nebula (also known as Caldwell 49) is an H II region located near one end of a giant molecular cloud in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way Galaxy. The open cluster NGC 2244 (Caldwell 50) is closely associated with the nebulosity, the stars of the cluster having been formed from the nebula's matter.

The complex has the following New General Catalogue (NGC) designations:

NGC 2237 – Part of the nebulous region (Also used to denote whole nebula)
NGC 2238 – Part of the nebulous region
NGC 2239 – Part of the nebulous region (Discovered by John Herschel)
NGC 2244 – The open cluster within the nebula (Discovered by John Flamsteed in 1690)[citation needed]
NGC 2246 – Part of the nebulous region

The cluster and nebula lie at a distance of 5,000 light-years from Earth and measure roughly 130 light years in diameter. The radiation from the young stars excites the atoms in the nebula, causing them to emit radiation themselves producing the emission nebula we see. The mass of the nebula is estimated to be around 10,000 solar masses. (Wikipedia)

Description: While collecting some frames on ngc2264 on the night of the 11th, due to strong wind, the mount moved a little and so I was able to collect other 4 hours on the Rosetta. Image is the crop of all the stacking of the 7th, 10th and 11th of Januar. Aquisition and processing with Astroart 8 with same commands of previous versions. Stacking with DSS
