La nébuleuse de l'Iris ou NGC 7023 se situe dans la constellation de Céphée à environ 1300 années-lumière de la Terre. La région centrale en bleu s'étend sur 6 années-lumière. Il s'agit d'une nébuleuse par réflexion, c'est à dire que contrairement aux nébuleuses par émission qui émettent leur propre lumière, la lumière émise ici est due à l'étoile centrale qui éclaire les nuages de poussières environnants.

Un classique des astrophotographes amateurs mais pas des plus simples pour autant, en effet la difficulté sur cette cible est de révéler l'intégralité des gaz sombres qui se confondent avec le ciel en posant suffisamment longtemps. Donc très content du résultat ! Avec un simple apn, je pensais devoir poser plus longtemps pour pouvoir avoir un tel résultat !

The Iris nebula or NGC 7023 is located in the constellation Cepheus about 1300 light years from Earth. The central region in blue is 6 light years long. It is a reflection nebula, i.e. unlike emission nebulae that emit their own light, the light emitted here is due to the central star that lights up the surrounding dust clouds.

A classic of amateur astrophotographers but not the easiest so far, indeed the difficulty on this target is to reveal the entirety of the dark clouds which merge with the sky by long exposures. So very happy with the result! I thought I would be harder to be able to have such a result with a dslr !

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
