Description

Messier object # 42. One of the most spectacular objects in the night sky for both visual observing and imaging. M 42 is approximately 1300 light years away and spans a distance of 1500 light years. The large amounts of nebulosity are composed of hydrogen gas which is in the process of forming new stars.
