Description

NGC 2244 (The Rosette Nebula) from Suburban Melbourne, Australia.

24x10 min exposures, (4 hours gasp!) IDAS LP filter.

It's such a massive object, I couldn't fit the whole thing in my camera! (SBIG 8300c) so I present this as a "Telescope View" similar to the binocular mask you see in Movies when a character is looking through Binos.

Took a while to process and bring out the colours, but I guess it's ok for a first attempt with the OSC.

Silver award with distinction, 86/100 AIPP Victorian Professional Photographer of the Year Awards, Science, Nature and Environment category.
