Description

My image of this absolutely stunning nebulae, also known as the Sagittarius Triplet. The Lagoon Nebula, or M8, is visible to the naked eye from medium-to-dark skies, and is very good in binoculars. In a telescope with a low power eyepiece it is amazing. In long exposure photos, the faint nebulosity pops up. M8 is a red, H-alpha nebulae, and would be better captured with a Modified Camera, but this image was taken with a stock T4i. I really liked the result.

This image should've been a 30 frame set (total 30 minutes), but 6 frames couldn't be registered in DSS because of trailing issue. I don't know why my mount (EQ3-2) had this problem, with only 6 frames. Yet, I'm extremely satisfied and happy with the result, and my polar alignment: that was the first time I could get 1 minute frames at 200mm, with the EQ3-2 Motor, without guiding.

Although these nebulae are visible from the Northern Hemisphere, they're close to the Southern Horizon, what difficults imaging. They're, therefore, better observed and photographed from the Southern Hemisphere, where this shot was taken, at 22ºS. Taken from Rural Skies, in a beautiful night, from MG, Brazil. Obrigado por ver.

Camera: Unmodded T4i/650D at ISO 1600

Lens: Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8, at 200mm and f/3.2

Exposure Detail: 24x60s; or 24x1 minute; total 24 minutes.

Eu realmente gostei do resultado.

*The -B- version of this image is a HDR, to show more detail in the core of M8*

*The -E- version is a crop, to show how it's possible to photograph DSOs without telescope - a crop from 200mm lens*

* The -F- version is the same as -D- version, but with a darker background. I like them both. *

*The -G- version is the -F- version, but I've used, for the 1st time, Star Shrinking using the Minimum Filter. It is very good in my opinion. *

*The -H- version is the -G- version processed using Nix Collection Color Efex tool, that sharpens up and gets more refined detail. To my taste, it is a little overprocessed/oversharpened, but make shure you check this version as well! *
