Description

M-31 is the nearest large galaxy and the most luminous member of our local group. It is distant from Earth by

2.5 milion light years and is thought to be as massive as our Milk Way.

It has magnitude 3.4 and apparent size of 3.1 deg x 1 deg.

I decided to re-image this galaxy from my place, which is located in a latitude of -24 degrees. The transit of M-31 is only 28 degrees, what makes this capture a challenge in all respects, including the processing.
