Description

How did I get the exposure balance so good on both the Moon and Saturn?

I captured Saturn with 423 frames, saw that the Moon was VERY over-exposed, adjusted the exposure/frame-rate, and immediately shot another video of 266 frames, in which Saturn was VERY under-exposed. After separately processing each video thru RegiStax-6 and tweaking them in PhotoStudio, I cut out the "good" Moon and pasted it over the "bad" Moon.

Ta-da.

The funny thing is that I shared this photo with EarthSky.com on Facebook and posted it on Flickr, each time without the explanation above, and only one friend, out of the thousands of people that looked at the image, asked how I was able to balance the vastly different brightness of the objects. I guess most people didn't think about it.
