Description

This is the first image with my new C14 Edge. The moon was out, the seeing was absolutely terrible, and the wind was blowing…so conditions were not the best. Yet, the AP mount and the new C14 did a respectable job on this first effort to see how the imaging across the field looked. M76 is small and probably would be better served with more exposure time or by going a bit deeper with each sub, but the moon and my willingness to put it a huge effort on this object limited the total exposure time. I used the T-shirt method on the daytime sky to produce flats and it resulted in some minor issues that required a slightly darker background than I would have liked. I am mostly delighted to discover that the Edge optics do indeed produce sharp imaging across the field (this image has only minor cropping from the full 36 mm x 24 mm frame.) After seeing this image, I think that this planetary should more appropriately be called the "Apple Core" nebula!
