Elephant Trunk, HaRGB Test

Portion of the IC1396 nebular complex in Cepheus, which includes the Elephant's Trunk and other dark nebulae.

It's a rapid processing to look for the correct way to blend the H-alpha channel into the RGB and it’s a crop of a wider area.

Unfortunately, due to a problem in the powerstation (a bad contact in the bridge which puts the batteries in parallel) I couldn’t acquire flats of RGB subs and H-alpha ones have not been calibrated at all, as it was intended to be only a processing test.

The number of sub acquired was also limited by a problem with the declination axis that did not allow me to start the capture before the 1:00am, making me lose almost 3 hours of signal (sooner or later I’ll get the Mach1!).

Porzione del complesso nebulare IC1396 nel Cefeo, che comprende la Elephant's Trunk e altre nebulose oscure.

È una elaborazione veloce per cercare la corretta modalità di blending del canale H-alpha nella ripresa RGB ed è un crop di un'area più grande.

Purtroppo a causa di un problema nella powerstation (un falso contatto nel ponte che mette le batterie in parallelo) non ho potuto fare i flat dei sub RGB, mentre i 3 sub H-alpha non sono stati calibrati per niente, in quanto doveva essere solo una prova di elaborazione.

Anche il numero dei sub acquisiti è stato limitato da un problema con l'asse di declinazione che non mi ha consentito di iniziare l'acquisizione prima dell'una, facendomi perdere quasi 3 ore di segnale (tanto prima o poi arriva la Mach1!).

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
