Description

Single shot.

B) FINAL : Color processing

Rough calculation of the resolution of this image :

Theophilus diameter = 100 Km.

The small crater at the Rim of Theophilus (half in shadow) 10 Km and let's say 10 pixel per

diameter, which gives about 1 Km per pixel.

This seems to be in line with the seeing conditions and the angular resolution of a 8" SC Telescope.

But a bit frustrating. If I would stay with my Telescope on the Moon and point it to the Meteor Crater (Barringer Crater) in Arizona, which has a diameter of 1.2 Km, I would never know that it does exist.

Note :

- Hubble Space Telescope resolution, if pointed to the moon, is about 100 m.

- India's Moon probe Chandrayaan-1 (2009) had a resolution of 140 - 280 m, depending on

wavelength.

- Japanes SELENE (KAGUYA) mission in 2009, took images using the Terrain Camera

with a resolution of 10m / pixel.
