Description

NGC1501 is Planetary Nebula with an irregular disk in the Constellation of Camelopardalis. NGC1501 estimated its distance to be roughly 4,890 light years. NGC1501 was discovered by Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel in 1787. The planetary lies roughly 5000 light years away and is about 1.4 light years in diameter. It possesses a 14.5 magnitude Wolfe-Rayet star at its heart.

Observation Notes : Bright, Large, round at 165X. The central star comes and goes at lower powers but is held steady at 270X. This planetary is a light blue disk at all powers. There are some dark markings within the disk, somewhat like the Eskimo Nebula in Gemini.
