Description

This is the second version of my experiment in which I am trying to determine the differences in noise reduction etc that adding dark frames have. This version is the stacking of subs WITHOUT dark frames.

I leave it to you to judge the difference between this and the calibrated version

However, an expert astrophotographer questions the quality of my dark frames. good point. So my experiment will continue

My full discussion on this is on the FLamsteed Astronomy Society forum:

As with the other image I am also trying to show here, that it is possible to image deep space objects with a Celestron Nexstar mount (a Goto Alt Az) despite the general concensus that goto Alt Az mounts are useless for deep space imaging. It is certainly not ideal but what I am trying to show here is that it is not THAT bad! For those that own a Goto Alt Az, give it a go. DSS will correct the field rotatation issue that Alt Az mounts have. the lower the imaging object's declination, the higher the exposure you can go.

This was 15 frames of 26 second exposures at ISO 6400.

Now this was taken reasonably dark skies in Brecon Beacon, Wales. But I will be adding some other images I had taken of nebulas and clusters in heavily light polluted London.
