Description

My previous image of this portion of the sun was a still, this one is from a 1920x1080 HD video clip using the same Canon 60D DSLR. The same OTA and 3x teleconverter were used. The resolution for this image is about 1/3 that of the still image. The best 5% of 1869 frames were stacked with AutoStakkert! 2.3.0.21, currently in "alpha" status. The current "most stable" 2.1.0.5 version is unable to open the HD video, returns an access violation error message.

The video was run at 30 fps with a shutter speed of 1/30 of a second. Since taking this video I discovered the 60D will allow shorter shutter speeds which I will try on my next solar system imaging session. The ISO was set to "auto", I don't know what ISO was actually selected. The ISO can also be set manually, which I will try next time.

The purpose of this image was to try out the HD video and see what kind of results it produced.
