Description

NGC 281 is a region of hydrogen gas located in the constellation of Cassiopeia. It is often called the Pacman Nebula because of its resemblance to the video game character.

This image consists of about 5 hours of subimages taken with clear, red, green, blue, and an infrared filter, then combined to make a color image. (Due to data entry limitations, the technical card shows 30 subframes at 600 sec each; it was actually 10 sets of 5 subframes each with luminance and h-alpha at 600 seconds and red, green, and blue at 200 seconds each for a total of 5 hours.)

Taken at the Cascade Mountain Observatory (AKA my back yard) at Orem, UT.
