Description

IC 1795 (North Bear Nebula)

IC 1795 also know as the Fishhead Nebula or Northern Bear Nebula, is a bright emission nebula with glowing gas and dark lanes of obscuring dust, about 70 light-years across and located just over 6,000 light-years away in the northern constellation Cassiopeia. The brighter region of the nebula is labelled NGC 896. It is part of a complex of star forming regions that lie at the edge of a large molecular cloud along the Perseus spiral arm of our Milky Way, where star formation is most active. IC 1795 is attached to the right side of IC 1805 (the Heart Nebula).
