Description

Astrotech AT8IN imaging Newtonian scope with DSI IIc camera and home-built TEC cooler

Orion ST80 guide scope with DSI Ic guider

All mounted on Celestron CG-5

I'm right at the upper limit on weight for this mount, but as currently configured the mount tracks about as well as it did with the much lighter (and less capable!) Meade 4501, and perhaps a bit better (time will tell).

I'm planning to replace the Gold's Gym ankle weight counterweights with a second 11-lb. Celestron counterweight, and also have ordered a longer counterweight shaft. That configuration will at least look better, and I expect it will also be more versatile for achieving good balance.
