Description

The beautiful wisps and tendrils of the Veil Complex are all that remains of an exploding sun. This supernova event occurred an estimated 5,000 to 10,000 years ago in the constellation Cygnus. It is commonly believed that this explosion was so intense that it could be seen in the night sky for several months. This nebula is sometimes referred to as the Cygnus Loop and covers a vast section of the night sky. It is larger across than six full moons.
