Description

This image of the Horsehead was taken under terrible conditions of high clouds and frost. This was my first image with the Celestron F/7 reducer on my C14 Edge. I'm not happy with the image quality but I need to try the system again under better conditions before I pass final judgement. There are chromatic issues and light from Alnitak caused serious strays all over one side of the image. This is a rotated and cropped subsection of the full frame done to minimize the impact of the stray light. The moon and weather seriously limited the amount of time I could put into this image and I think that it really needs about double the exposure to get it to where I'd like to see it. The weather has been so bad lately that it could be a while before I can give it another try. Still, I thought that the result is worth sharing even if only as a demonstration of the Edge reducer quality. C&C welcome...

PS With so much bad weather, I have to revisit old data and this set wasn't as bad as I first thought. I took another run at it in PI and with a bit more experience pulled out a better image (I think.) I also added a Gray Scale image as well. Tell me which you prefer...I can't decide.
