Description

Located in the constellation Cepheus Cederblad 214 is part of a huge emission nebula. Like many nebula of this type it is a very active star nursery. Bok globules (dark gaseous clouds which form protostars) seem to float across the brighter areas of nebulosity. Stars born within the clouds of dust and gas light up its gases with ionizing radiation and blow away their shrouds with strong stellar winds. Star cluster NGC 7662 can be seen in the upper right corner of this image.
