Comet C/2014 Q2 Lovejoy

Comet C/2014 Q2 Lovejoy on the night of 25 December. The evening was superb and the 23:30 this Comet was located almost at the peak (10° from horizon to the South). The wind was strong, with gusts from 35 km/h but the seeing wasn't bad. I decided to try to capture it even if for a few minutes, since the telescope would be found within little in direct line with a lamppost that fired light onto the lens. I had to wrestle with an annoying gradient at the top caused precisely by the light, but the result seems to me to be good. 14x90 seconds 800 ISO with Canon 450D and Tecnosky refractor 80/480 with 40,8x reducer.

Cometa C/2014 Q2 Lovejoy (che darà spettacolo a Gennaio perchè sarà sempre più alta sull'orizzonte). La notte del 25 dicembre la serata era ottima e verso le 23:30 questa cometa si trovava quasi al culmine (10° dall'orizzonte, a Sud). Con un semplice binocolo era già facilmente individuabile. Il vento era forte, con raffiche da 35km/h ma il seeing non era pessimo. Ho deciso di provare quindi a riprenderla anche se per pochi minuti, dato che il telescopio si sarebbe trovato nel giro di poco in linea diretta con un lampione che sparava luce sulla lente. Durante l'elaborazione ho dovuto lottare con un fastidioso gradiente sulla parte alta causato appunto dalla luce, ma il risultato mi sembra buono. 14x90 secondi 800 ISO con Canon 450D e rifrattore Tecnosky 80/480 con spianatore/riduttore 0,8x.
