Description

I was ready to travel 120 miles to get an image of Comet LovejoyC/2014 Q2 on Saturday night

after the Moon set,but clouds came in. It looked bad again tonight (Sunday), 12/28, so I tried from

my driveway in the strong light pollution of Denver with the first quarter

Moon lighting the sky too. I only had a brief time between clouds to get this image.

Imaged with a Canon 7D Mark II 20-megapixel digital camera and 300 mm f/2.8 L IS II lens

at f/2.8 and ISO 1600. No dark frame subtraction, no flat fields. IDAS light pollution filter.

Tracking with an Astrotrac and noguiding. The 7.5 minutes total exposure

(fifteen 30-second exposures). Stars to magnitude 16 wererecorded.
