Here, Orion's orientation is familiar to northern hemisphere astronomers. The reddish curve of Barnard's Loop is obvious in this view. The brilliant star Sirius - bloated and over-exposed in this photo - is at bottom left. The large reddish circular Rosette Nebula in Monoceros is at the top edge just left of centre.

50 mm focal length; ISO 2500; five stacked two-minute exposures at f/4.5.
