Description

NGC908 is a galaxy that is undergoing a period of intense star formation. There are numerous clumps of bright stars in its spiral arms. Notice also the peculiar split in the spiral arm on the left (eastern) side of the galaxy. Both the intense star formation and the spiral arm split suggest that the galaxy has been disturbed by some other galaxy. However, no other galaxy is visible near NGC908. Possibly it may have been absorbed in the encounter, or it may be massive, but very faint, or it may be hidden behind NGC908.
