Description

On 17th of January I woke up at 6 am, which itself is quite surprising as I'm not a morning person at all. But even more surprising was that I could see a clear sky from the window! This winter has been awfully cloudy. While still in bed I checked the Satellite Safari app on the tablet and saw that in 50 minutes ISS would be somewhere over the Southern horizon, going past Saturn and Moon.

There was no time for morning coffee as I quickly filled the camera bag with gear, grabbed the tripod and went outside. It was freezing cold scraping the windows of the car free of ice. Carefully diriving on the dangerously icy streets I found my way to the closest high point of the city that had a view towards South.

While setting the tripod I already could see ISS near Spica. Shit!

But I was able to take the photo.

That's six astronauts and cosmonauts there, going somewhere over Ukraine, photographed from Finland, some 1300 kilometers away.
