Description

The Pelican nebula also known as IC5070 located in the constellation Cygnus "the swan " in close proximity to the North American nebula . The Pelican nebula has an obvious shape of a pelican or (I think) pterodactyl would be a closer match . The Hll star forming region lies about 2000 light years away and is located off the east coast of the "North American" nebula separated by a large rift of dark material . This LRGB image is a compilation of 13 -3 minute exposures taken with an Edge HD 11" scope , Hyperstar lll lens and ST8300C .The Luminance frame was created from the full color frame and sharpened slightly before adding to the color frame . The Hyperstar lll lens provides the very fast F2 optics to allow for short exposures and good detail with a wide field of view . The ccd control was done using Nebulosity 3.guided by an 80mm ST refractor and Orion autoguider and PHDguide software which works in conjuction with Nebulosity . Processing involved subtracting darks and color conversion then stacking using Nebulosity 3 . Image was resized and stretched for detail in AA 4.0 .
