Mizar, the brighter of the two stars (mag 2.23), is the second to last star in the "handle" of the Big Dipper. Alcor, the dimmer star (mag 3.99), moves together through space with Mizar, and it is suspected that the 2 are gravitationally bound. These stars are about one light year away from each other.
