Heart nebula needs much more light !

VERSION B : sorry folks, this is not a pretty picture. But for me, a step ahead in understanding astrophoto processing. I integrated a longer 160 sec O-III defective frame (hence the heavy crop and colored lines at the bottom), than reduced to 3 frames in O-III (60sec. 62 sec and 160 sec.) and 5 broadband (instead of 2). Same data : much more nebulosity to be seen.

(Initial statement

This is supposed to be the Heart nebula. There is a very faint hint of nebulosity on the more contrasted parts... When you zoom on the raw, along with a Stellarium. Still, it's only very faint outlines. Yet the depth of field reach down to mag. 16.40... Obviously far from enough. I should check my colleague's fields to get an idea how deep one needs to seek for light :-) So!

That was my first improvised attempt, anyway. Astrophotography allows for little improvisation.

With 8 of 10 of my "lum" and another 4 O-III frames to the bin (need to bring this camera to the shop really)...

First small stone on the way to better understanding.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
