Description

Data from additional image session from 022415 at 0700 UTC. I was able for the first time to do unguided consistent 5 to 6 minute subs without the use of an autoguider. The balance on my mount with Hyperstar attached to the primary mirror must be absolutely perfect WITHOUT mount bias heavy in either direction.

This image is combined data from 021715 that I took previously and posted. The session on 022415 was from 8 (5 to 6 minute subs unguided plus an additional 7 minute sub unguided was included in the stack as well.I was unable to continue the image run session due to abrupt huge 100 percent cloud cover. I wanted to test the limits of my unguided session by doing the additional longer sub and just barely started to see slight elongation at 150 percent enlargement.

The Ovision RA special worm gear is really living up to its name and was tested with a PEC RMS at 0.05 for a 1 worm 240 second cycle.

My dovetail bar is marked for this correction and I was off by only maybe .25 of an inch or less, but the .25 made a huge difference in stable unguided imaging.

Please click on image to see the full resolution. This galaxy will need more photons gathered during my next clear night. Even at F1.8 with my hyperstar it still needs 6 minute subs to bring out the inner detail correctly with my Canon T2i.

I will be upgrading my camera this summer to the Nikon D810A so stay tuned!!
