Description

Taken 20110221-20110223

NGC 2264 is a complex region of dust, emission and reflection nebula in the constellation Monoceros. North is to the right and west is up.

On the left is the cone nebula, an H-II region.

Just to the right of the cone nebula and extending to the middle of the image is the Christmas Tree cluster -- a grouping of stars that outlines the shape of a Christmas tree with the peak starting at the cone on the left and the base ending near the center.

A reflection nebula is just above the center of the image, and the Fox Fur nebula is just to the right of that.
