Description

NGC 2403 (Caldwell 7) is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation Camelopardalis. NGC 2403 is an outlying member of the M81 Group and is approximately 8 million light-years away. It looks a lot like M33, the Pinwheel galaxy, is about 50,000 light years in diameter and contains numerous star-forming H II regions, several of enormous dimensions.

This image also contains PGC21288 on upper left corner. North is up.

18.9 hr HaLRGB

D.A.R.C. Observatory, Mercey Hot Springs, CA 2/20/15, 3/19/15, 2/10/18

Ha from Montebello Open Space Preserve, CA 3/26/15 (50% moon)

2/20/20 J: Original 2015 version had 12.2 hrs of HaLRGB data using ML-8300 camera but that is now combined with 6.6 hrs of LRGB data from 2018 using an ML-16200 camera.

1/15/22 I: Set Final Version back to the 12h Version I - until I get some more Ha data to balance the LRGB.

4/16/23 N: Partially reprocessed using BlurXTerminator and NoiseXTerminator (still awaiting more ML16200 Ha data)
