Description

In the well illuminated are just below center in this image lie craters Goldschmidt and Anaxagoras. Goldschmidt is the larger, older and more well-worn crater. On its left (west) edge is Anaxagoras. The ray system you see is from the impact that formed Anaxagoras. These rays extend over 900km to the south reaching the area of the prominent crater Plato (not visible in this image). This area is near the moon’s north polar region.
