Description

Located a distance of 15,800 light-years, 10 million stars come together to form the largest globular cluster in the Milky Way, NGC 5139, has a mass estimated at 4 million solar masses and 12 billion years old.

Omega Centauri is so distinct from other globular clusters that is theorized to have a source outside the Milky Way. Perhaps this cluster is what's left of the core of a galaxy dwarf that crashed into our galaxy .
