Description

NGC2141 is an open star cluster in the constellation of Orion. NGC2141 has 20-25 faint stars mag 13-15 at 220x over extensive haze. Located within an incomplete circle of several brighter mag 11-12 stars about 8' diameter. Mag is 9.4. Brightest star is 15.0. Distance is 4,000 light years away. Discovered (January, 1883) by Edward Barnard.

Observation notes : At 98X this is a small unresolved cluster resembling a nebula in appearance. At 203X a few stars were resolved in NGC 2141 with a background glow of unresolved fainter stars. The brightest stars in this cluster are about mag. 12 to 13
