Description

Here is Messier 20 or the Trifid Nebula. It is found in the southern constellation of Sagittarius. It is 5200 light years away so that means the light in this picture is 5200 years old! It is pretty cool because it is a combination of all three types of Nebula. The red/purple is the emission nebula, the blue area is the reflection nebula, and the dark lanes and areas are the dark nebula (they are dust you can not see light through).
