Description

IC4633 is a spiral galaxy in Apus. The galaxy is almost obscured by vast, very faint Integrated Flux Nebulosity (IFN). Unlike many well-known reflection nebulae, Integrated Flux Nebulosity occurs well away from the plane of the milky way. It is not illuminated by a single star, but rather by the energy from the integrated flux of all stars in the Milky Way. This particular nebula, designated MW9 is the 9th object in the Mandel-Wilson Catalogue of Unexplored Nebulae (http://www.galaxyimages.com/UNP1.html) and consists of hydrogen, dust particles and carbon monoxide amongst other elements.
