Description

This galaxy has a well known dust lane, which in reality has a ring shape like Saturn, contains a mass of about 16 million Suns of dust grains that are submicron in size.

The dust lane may owe its existence to the gravitational interaction of a non-defunct bar with the interstellar medium.

An ultra-compact dwarf galaxy smilar to a globular cluster, but with a mass of about 30 million Suns, orbits M-104

M-104 is distant 30 million light years from us, has an apparent size of 8.6' x 4.2' and mag. 8.3

This image was captured with a Quattro CF 10" f/4 and a StarLightXpress Trio SX-694 camera.

The electronic focuser from StarLightInstruments.

The capture scheme was:

Luminance: 20x300sec

RGB: 10x300sec for each channel

Only darks and bias applied.
