Description

C8 Faster+Hyperstar 3 at 425mm and F/2.66 (effective F/3).Atik460ex (mono) at -10 deg C.

I used an aperture mask as used by Mike Hawtin and "Ikonnikov" at the Astrobin. The mask really reduces the star size for a minimal loss of lights (particularly for narrowband but I have not tested quantitatively). Also, the Hyperstar adapter provided by Starizona was too long (~1.5mm) and filing it down to the correct length improved the star size by 5-10%. The images were taken over 4 nights between torrential rain, hail storm, murky sky, and equipment failure (my mount's control board [Losmandy G11] failed) to top off.

Oiii 10min x 67, 1min x 30

Ha 10min x 28, 1min x 20

Sii 10min x 14, 1min x 30

All with Astrodon 5nm filter.

The color palette is a mix (50:50) of natural color and HST. Processed by ImagesPlus, Photoshop, and Registar.
