Description

The Swan Nebula M17 is between 5,000 and 6,000 light-years from Earth and is about 15 light-years in diameter and contains an estimated 800 solar masses. It is one of the brightest and most massive star-forming regions in our galaxy.



Sharp-eyed observers will be able to spot M17 from dark skies with the naked eye. It is an easy binocular object.
