Description

This is my first ever long image run of a DSO from a very dark site in Heppner Oregon of M16 taken over four consecutive nights of July 14th,15th,16th and 17th recently this week.

The Eagle Nebula is part of a diffuse emission nebula. The region is active with star formation about 7,000 light years in distance. A spire of gas that can be seen coming off the nebula in the northeastern part which is 9.5 light years long.

I included an updated version using Neil Carboni Tools in my Photoshop 2014 edition. I used local enhancement, shrink stars smaller, enhance DSO , noise reduction and these steps really brought out the details from the pillars and spire much better.

I will be collecting data from M16 for one last time this year in August at the upcoming Oregon Star Party.

This is the final revised edition of M16 with the collection of 221 sub-exposures from the month of combined July and August 2015 data. The final data was imaged at The Oregon Star Party on August 13th and 14th. I was very pleased with the outcome considering all was imaged from a DLSR camera a Huetch Canon 6D. I may in the future get an additional mod done on it to allow cooling.
