Description

This image, also known as "The Pillars of Creation", is an emission nebula in the constellation Serpens. Captured during a brief window of clear sky. This is another narrowband colour mapped image; in this case sulfur (using a SII filter) has been mapped to red, hydrogen (using a Ha filter) to green and oxygen (using OIII filter) to blue. Unfortunately cloud cover cut short the imaging run and so i only managed to collect 40 minutes with the OIII filter, so there is more noise than I would like. Anyway, here it is

Exposure time (in minutes):

SII : Ha : OIII = 110:140:40

Telescope: Vixen VC200L at f6.4

Camera: SBIG ST8XE at an operating temperature of -20C
