Description

North is up in this image. This field is the Barnard 18 Region in the constellation of Taurus. Barnard 18 is a large dark nebula that dominates this field. Parts of Barnard 18 are in other catalogs as well, but notably the central part of the image shows the bright nebula LBN 812 and the dark nebula LDN 1531 embedded in Barnard 18. There is a visible Brown Dwarf (2MASS J04321786+2422149) in LBN 812. The upper left corner of the image is interesting in that there is a Galaxy Group ([CHM2007] LDC 318) and a small planetary (PN G174.2-14.6) right on the edge of the field. There are also a number of background galaxies - These objects are identified in the annotated image. Horizontal FOV is 120'.
