The complex is believed to be about 800-1000 units away, and younger components are no more than several million years old. The complex also includes one of the hottest stars discovered at a distance of 1 kpc from the Sun, namely BD + 66 1673, which is an eclipse binary system consisting of O5V, which has a surface temperature of almost 45,000 K and a brightness about 100,000 times greater than Sun.
