Description

As everyone's telescope is pointed to the comet C/2021 A1 (Leonard), I tried to something different by shooting 4P/Faye, taking advantage of its position on 28 Dec 2021.

In order to capture the whole scene, I used a widefield rig, which made the comet to appear very small in the image, and this is why you can check Revision B where I manually marked it in case you can't see the small comet among the starfield.

At the night of the observation, the comet had a coma of 3.5' arc and was shining at a magnitude of 11.4 according to the COBS, so pretty small and faint, but I still really liked how it showed up in the frames.

You may notice some remaining satellite trails at somewhere near the Rosette Nebula, and that's because I had a lot of satellites in all of my frames, and because my observation was only 1 hour long, it was pretty hard for PixInsight to reject it completely. I also tried to remove it a little bit by hand, but as you can see at Revision D all of the frames contained satellites.

I really enjoyed this Field Of View and to image a different comet, and I really hope you liked it too! Constructive criticism, comments and suggestions are more than welcome in the comments section.

Title: 1 Hour of Satellites

Description: Here you can see why I mentioned the amount of satellites in the dataset of this image. All of the frames have satellite trails in them and most of it passes in the same area, making it very hard to remove.
