Description

This object is a dark nebula located in the constellation of Sagittarius at a declination of -37 degrees. I thought it looked interesting in the sky atlas and so I decided to image it. I could not find any information on this object.

This obscure object is the 42nd entry in the dark nebulae catalog compiled in 2005 by a team led by Japanese astronomer Kazuhito Dobashi. His team used data from the Digitized Sky Survey to compile the catalog.

This nebula is part of the Corona Australis Molecular Cloud, which is just over 400 light years away. This same cloud extends 2 degrees to the west to NGC 6726, a more popular and more beautiful object.
